One Potter’s Story

When I was much younger, I saw on a news show a retired gentle man making beautiful one-of-a-kind birdhouses and giving half of his sales to charity. It stayed with me. I wanted to follow. I retired in July 2014.

It could have been wood carving, painting, glass, or metalwork. But I fell into ceramics by chance! I quickly fell in love.

Since Autumn of 2014, I’ve made Waubonsee Community College’s Ceramics Studio my second home. I’ve learned so much while knowing it is just a small first step. Every demo by Prof. Jeppesen, every visiting artist program, and every peek at the work of other potters inspired me even as they made clear how much more there is to learn.

By the Autumn of 2023, I’d built a small line of work. At the risk of premature launch, I invite you to help me continue this narrative.
